Il maestro profumiere Jean-Claude Ellena, ispirato dall’amore per l’Italia, firma per Laboratorio Olfattivo una collezione chiamata “Viaggio in Italia by Jean-Claude Ellena”, le cui cinque tappe sono: Mandarino, Limone, Bergamotto, Arancia Rossa e Pompelmo rappresentazioni della gioia di vivere e del buonumore tipicamente italiani. Profumi che sono come “un raggio di sole in una giornata tipicamente invernale”.

«Se gli altri agrumi sono originari della Cina, il Bergamotto, invece, è italiano. È un vero peccato non conoscere l’autore della sua nascita, colui che ha incrociato un albero di Limone con uno di Arancio amaro: avrebbe potuto ricevere lo stesso omaggio del collega Clément, che ha inventato la clementina. I commercianti italiani arrivarono a vendere il Bergamotto ai cinesi per aromatizzare il loro tè di seconda scelta, che poi rivendevano agli inglesi. Spesso mi viene chiesto se io abbia delle preferenze olfattive. Ho sempre detto di no, volendo nascondere le manipolazioni che esercito sugli odori, visto che il lavoro del profumiere è molto simile a quello di un illusionista. Ebbene sì, ho delle preferenze e variano in base alle mie esigenze, ai miei desideri. Vivo amori passeggeri, ma anche amori forti e duraturi, al punto che sono molto unito al Bergamotto.
